There is no more versatile garment for cooler weather than the cardigan. The garment features a long draped bodice with a dropped shoulder and a waterfall hem. The sleeves are fitted enough to be flattering but not constricting and are slightly long to keep your little one’s hands warm. The neckline features a band that not only makes the garment a quick sew, but adds to the comfort. Pair it with their favorite boots, and you are ready for cooler weather. Just add hot cocoa!

Materials Needed

This pattern works perfectly for Knitfabrics. You will need the following materials:

4-way stretch knit fabric with at least a 50% stretch but no more than 75% stretch- Recommend a blend of at least 5% spandex/lycra for good recovery. Avoid lightweight spandex/lycra and loose knits (they tend to stretch and sag and do not have a good recovery). Avoid also 2-way stretch widthwise knits.

Optional: Clear elastic to stabilize the waistline.

Optional: 3/8” strips of four-way stretch interfacing to stabilize the facing neckline.

I LOVE this pattern for my daughter and she loves the knee length option. It was a very quick easy sew and the fit is perfect and was very easy to blend sizes. I couldn't be more pleased.
