Here are a list of skill sets needed for each sewing level:
Absolute Beginner:
- Thread your machine
- Sew a seam
- Create an elastic casing
- Make a hem
- Hand sew a button
- Topstitching / Edgestitching
- Seam pressing
- Ease in a sleeve

- Finish seam edges with a zigzag or by serging
- Sew machine button holes

- Sew a convex curve to a concave curve (such as princess seams)

- Creating your own piping or bias tape
- Understitching
- Create pintucks
- Bag a closed lining
- Sew a zippered / button fly
- Hand smocking
- Sew a bound button hole
- Sew a welt pocket
